BolinOS is an open source applicative platform that not only can be used as a content management system ( open source cms ) but also as an online community portal environment. More than 250 000 downloads on site since the new website in 2003. The project date from 1995 and was developed in order to give users the ability to have a wysiwyg ( what you see is what you get ) multimedia environment for the Web. Through the virtual desktop it enables users to have a virtual network workplace from anywhere on the web, using a recent browser ( e.g. FireFox ( Mozilla compatible), Safari or Internet Explorer).
BolinOS has been extensively used in many fields including medicine, music, and generalist portals. It can be used from simple personal websites to complex thousand+ users portals.
The first use of the BolinOS platform to creat iPhone / iPod Touch has been made. The new compatibility of Safari 3.0 with BolinOS makes it easy to adapt contents to these new devices. We will post the urls of these webapps as soon as officially launched.
Apple just announced Safari 3 to download for Mac AND Windows (XP, Vista). Finally Safari is fully BolinOS compatible, with full availability of WYSIWIG functions.
